A Spark Of Inspiration For Struggling Musicians
If you've ever felt like you will never reach your musical goals, this one is for you.
I want to remind you how many of your idols started where you are today, or worse off. Think about them, and realize that they didn't come into this world with the ability to write a magnum opus. Or play that incredible, speeding fast guitar solo. They worked hard for it. The best can perform at extreme levels because of this. It wasn't because they got lucky, learned a few tips, or hacks along the way. Sure, that could help. But the bulk of their acquired skills came from consistent effort. Unbreakable work ethic. Things you can choose to do every day.
Be conscious every time you think about practicing of two choices:
Choice #1: You decide you're too tired, don't have enough time, or any other excuse. Where does this decision bring you over a long period of time? Think about it, how many times will you practice over the course of a year, five years, ten years? Does the result sound good to you, if you spend 20-30 years procrastinating on this? Do you want to be 40, 50, 60+ living with the regret that you never gave it a good try? I'll let you decide for yourself.
Choice #2: You decide to practice, even if it's only 10 minutes. You do this every day. Despite the troubles of life, you make it work. It's fun, you learn to enjoy yourself, and have a new way to relieve stress. Let's say you are consistent. Every day for 5 years. Do you think you will gain slight improvement? 10 years? More than slight improvement?
At the end of your life, you will see everything you've ever done flash before your eyes.
Do you want to see excuses, unfulfilled potential, and never know what could have been?
Do you want to be proud of your effort, time and hard work? Have a legacy to remember?
At the end of the day, this life is yours, and only you have the right to do what you want with it. Why not do something you want to do, and not worry about what other people think?
...I know it's hard now. I've been there too. Many, many times. For some things about my musical skills, I still am! But the fact is, you won't get any closer to your goals if you give up now. The world will some day hear your voice. You will have your chance to shine.
Give yourself a chance first. Allow your musical interest to blossom into something great.
Here for you on your musical adventure.
